Nose reshaping (Rhinoplasty)
Rhinoplasty, nose surgery (commonly called a "nose job, is one of the most popular plastic surgery and required. The goal of the process is changing the nose for a more ideal, the shape and size. This can be done several ways, such as reducing or increasing the size and length, by changing the shape of the bridge or tip, narrowing the nostrils or otherwise change the angle of the nose. The desired result is a beautiful nose that has created a better overall appearance to the face and in harmony and balance with other facial features.
Rhinoplasty usually is performed for aesthetic reasons, but you can also correct a birth defect or nose injury or alleviate chronic respiratory problems. Although a common procedure, it is not a simple and requires skills and experience of a Board Certified plastic surgeon; one who has had specialized training in plastic surgery and proven experience in aesthetic results.
ABOUT RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty usually takes an hour and is performed under general anesthesia. The patient will be sleeping and not feel or remember anything. The surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, and most patients can be discharged to go home after only a few hours in our recovery package.
During a rhinoplasty surgery, Dr. Salzhauer commonly makes a small incision at the base of the nose and then raises the skin of the nasal framework and sculpts the underlying bone and cartilage to create the new shape you want. The skin is then refurbished on the new framework and reattached using tiny dots absorbable. A Splint may be applied to help heal the nose in its new form and, in some procedures, supports soft or packs are applied to support the septum during the healing process.
The patient may experience less pain, swelling, swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes, but it will start to decrease after a few days. Strenuous activity or stress in the area of the nose (including blowing the nose) should be avoided during several days allow the tissue to heal. Nasal packing is removed after a few days and points and divide removed between one to two weeks. Actual results may start to be seen after two to four weeks.
RHINOPLASTY PROCEDURE TECHNIQUES
Depending on the complexity of the patient's nasal structure and surgery, one of three common techniques can be used: the open rhinoplasty, closed Rhinoplasty or cardiovascular tip.
Open Rhinoplasty
Open Rhinoplasty is used to reduce the overall size of a big nose or when access is required for re-sculpt the bone and cartilage, and is the preferred technique used by Dr. Salzhauer. A small incision is made in the column between the nostrils (columella), allowing the nasal skin be withdrawn back the underlying structure of the nose and allows Dr. Salzhauer have a clear vision of nasal anatomy. The bone and cartilage are then carved to create the desired shape and size of the nose and nasal skin is then re-adhered.
Closed Rhinoplasty
Using this procedure, multiple incisions are made inside the nostrils without lifting the nasal skin. The bone and cartilage of the nose are altered inside to reach the desired contour of the nose. This procedure is typically performed when only small changes are desired.
Cardiovascular tip
This procedure is used when only the tip of the nose must be surgically. The surgeon can use either the standard or open Rhinoplasty to achieve the desired effect.
WHAT CAN PERFORM RHINOPLASTY
ALTER the size and shape: surgery can change the length and width of the bridge, calibration of nostrils or change the angle between the nose and upper lip to attain a size of the nose and the form that is more in harmony and balance with the patient's facial features.
Remove a Hump or Bump: one of the most common procedures is the removal of a hump or bump in the bridge of the nose in order to achieve a more aesthetic and smooth profile.
